Notes: This was supposed to be a one shot of how Spock discovered Mirror, Mirror Uhura, but I think that I might have to have him find the rest of the intruders as well.

I had been on duty for two shifts, and although I was fully capable of continuing at my full capacity in my duties, I was in need of the seclusion of my quarters. The babble of primarily human voices constantly batters against my Vulcan resolve. With my years of practice I have learned to push the buzz away until it becomes no more than background noise, but there comes a time when it begins to grate on my nerves and I must escape to solitude. On bad days I will seek solace in the quiet of one of the hydroponic bays, but today my quarters will be enough.

Before the door slid shut behind me, I knew that I was not alone. Vulcan had no moon. My eyes have no trouble seeing in the dimly lit room. The only illumination came from the flickering lights on my computer, and the lights of the fish tank that was resting on a shelf. I enjoyed watching the fish swim about among the coral and rocks that were arranged in the tank. There were four fish in the tank, two blue, one gold and one red. Nyota had named them McCoy, Spock, Kirk and the red fish after herself. It did not seem to bother her that one of the blue fish was female and the red fish was male. It was illogical to name them at all. They could not come if they were called, and they were unable to hear us speak to them. While McCoy and Kirk’s illogic frequently annoyed me, especially the good doctor’s, I found Nyota’s illogic comforting. It was one of the reasons that I love her.

“Where have you been?” Nyota said, her voice was a rough purr as if she had been shouting, or she may have been suffering from a virus. “I’ve been waiting for you for hours.”
